Omowunmi Aloba, the widow of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, aka Mohbad, said the rift between her and her father-in-law, Joseph Aloba, began before her husband’s death.

The problems began after the birth of her son Liam, she told Channels Television.

“Yeah, we were best friends. “I think we fell out, I think it was after I had my child,” she added.

She said the disputes over the naming ceremony for Liam and other family problems that could not be sorted out were getting worse.

“It was after I had Liam, because of the naming ceremony issues, and because my husband forgave his mother. It was just a family feud that turned into something really big.

“People online seem to think that it is all about the fall of my husband. But in actual fact it is because of the family feud that we had before the demise of my husband,” she said.

The widow of the late singer further claimed that immediately after Mohbad’s death, her father-in-law made the singer’s properties and royalties the center of discussions.

“I literally picked up the phone and called him because I was tensed and scared. He wasn’t telling me what I wanted to hear. He was just talking about my husband’s property and all that,” she said.

She also claimed Joseph Aloba wants the DNA result to prove Liam is not the father.

“What he really wants can never happen. He actually wants my child to be DNA negative,” she said.

Omowunmi said that the situation had gone to the extent that reconciliation might not be possible again.

“It has really gotten to a point that I don’t think this whole family feud can be settled anymore,” she said.

Mohbad passed away on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27, amid controversial circumstances.

His death sparked nationwide outrage, protests and a raft of investigations, including court cases, autopsy reviews and ongoing disputes over the paternity of his son, Liam.
