Ekiti state Governor Biodun Oyebani has praised President Bola Tinubu for making governance easier for all the 36 governors of the states by giving more resources to the sub-nationals.
Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji has said that he is indebted to President Bola Tinubu for making governance easier for him, and other governors.
Oyebanji said in Ado-Ekiti at an interactive session with newsmen that “We battled for almost six months to meet the State’s wage bill and capital projects until the emergence of Tinubu as president.
According to the Governor, the various interventionist programmes of the President made more resources available to all States including Ekiti; enabling his administration to implement its shared prosperity agenda with ease.
Oyebanji, who spoke at the interactive session attended by heads of media outfits in the state, and journalists across from the print, electronics and digital media, said the ongoing construction works on three of the federal roads linking the State, has eased up pressure from citizens who have been calling on his government to fix the roads.
He revealed that the cost of the recently approved concrete pavement on Ado-Itawure road is above the State’s budget for 2023; stating that but for the president’s intervention on the road, there was no way the State could have constructed it.
“I became governor six months to the inauguration of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as President. I had sleepless nights for six months, thinking about how to pay the wage bill and implement the shared prosperity agenda. The airport is finished now. We consider roads. The President has almost finished the Ado-Akure road. He has also given the Ado-Itawure road. That contract is worth more than our budget in two years. “We could never have done those roads if it wasn’t for the president that cares,” he said.
The governor said the increased allocation from the Federal Government has enabled his administration to increase subvention to the State’s tertiary institutions thrice and meet the demands of the labour force, thus fostering industrial harmony in the State.
Oyebanji further stated that his administration has paid over 85 Billion Naira in gratuities and pension since he took over in 2022.
He attributed the endorsement of his administration by the people of Ekiti to the sterling performance of his administration, which was being facilitated by the Tinubu presidency.
The governor also commended the media in the state for professionalism in the discharge of their duties/ enlightening the public and holding the government accountable where necessary.
Oyebanji who urged the people of Ekiti to support Tinubu’s re-election said the president is repositioning Nigeria on the path of greatness and should be given the benefit of doubts.
Congratulations to the President. You can’t make an omelette without breaking eggs. It takes somebody who has got the courage and confidence to do it, the progress and stability that he has brought to the economy and everything. He’s trying to fix things that went wrong in the last 30 years. If a man is ill and you give him an injection, does he recover immediately? We have to support and understand Mr President. “I have sat with him many times and I can see that he has clarity of intention and how to put the country on the right footing” the governor said.
