Edo North Senatorial District Lawmaker, Adams Oshiomhole, has called the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, a house of thieves after a claim by the former Chief Financial Officer of the company, Umar Aliya.

Aliya had claimed during a session by the Senate Public Accounts Committee probing alleged misappropriation of funds running into trillions of naira that some officials want their children employed in the government-owned company.

Reacting furiously to the claim, Oshiomhole who said NNPC does not have reputation, added that the officials allegedly seeking employment for their children only want their family to benefit from their financial crimes.

“I heard you saying that people want their children to be employed in NNPC, that is because it is a house of thieves and they want their children to benefit from it.

“NNPC has no reputation, your reputation is fraud. How can you sit here and say people want their children employed in NNPC? “So you think we are making fun of you here”?

There have been reactions on social media to Oshiomhole’s take on the company’s operations with some netizens praising his courage.
